Mark's Story - The Freedom of Walking

"I’ve lived in Boulder for 10 years overall – I grew up here as a kid and moved back four years ago. I’ve never owned a car. I grew up walking to my elementary school, which was a block away. Then, I moved to a really auto-centric town in North Carolina and suddenly, at 11 years old, all of my freedom was gone. Coming back to Boulder, I can live the life I was shaped by – walking! It’s never a bad time to walk. I live in the Goss Grove neighborhood, so I can get to just about anything within walking distance. If I can’t walk there, I can certainly take the bus or ride my bike."

Patricia's Story - Traffic Concerns

[Story collected at the TMP Launch event.]"I live near McGuckin’s, but I have to cross Canyon and Folsom to get there. The most hazardous thing is the yellow left-turn arrow because the drivers are not looking for me, they’re looking for a break in the traffic. Pretty soon, I’m not going to be able to drive, so I’ll have to walk to get to the grocery store. I would ride my bike, but I don’t feel safe out there anymore."

Bill Rigler - The Joy of a 15-Minute Neighborhood

[Story collected at the TMP Launch event.] "I live in the Uptown Broadway neighborhood up in north Boulder. It’s a 15-minute neighborhood, which means that almost everything I need is within a 15-minute walk. I love the fact that I can walk to shopping, bars, restaurants and so many other cool places. I want to make sure that we replicate that opportunity all around Boulder for people who love walking."
