Re-Imagine Re-Use at 6400 Arapahoe
City property located at 6400 Arapahoe Ave. is host to two nonprofit recycling organizations: Eco-Cycle and Resource Central. Today, a wide variety of materials are processed through this site.
(Did you know, for example, that you can recycle bike parts, fire extinguishers, cooking oil and yoga mats? Neat, huh?!)
Boulder residents currently recycle, reuse and compost 51 percent of their waste. This is great, but we know we can do even better!

To build a biotecture/ permaculture design center! A space for community use, events and trainings using recycled and reused materials.
This would provide those looking to reuse and recycle using charm and resource with examples and inspiration on how to best do so. Similar to the Earthships in NM, it would also provide a space for the community to learn and share ideas regarding conservation, alternative energy and sustainability. To collaborate around ideas of permaculture, biotecture and sustainable design. If designed correctly, it could be self sustaining and self sufficient with food production and soil regeneration for the community. Hosting events and trainings could enable it to be financially self sufficient as well. The building and design of it would be a collaboration and community outreach/ education opportunity in itself. Thanks for asking the community for ideas.. I'm excited to see what else comes up!

A "village' for adults (and teens) with developmental disabilities.
• Safe, kind, caring, long term home for adults with developmental disabilities • 8+ acres of land usable for housing and farm environment. • Central hub building for communal eating, gathering, events etc. • Event center staffed by clients. • Tiny homes for clients and on-site staff. • One stop shop center for all things autism i.e. funding, therapies, meds etc. • Greenhouses for organic produce to sell to local restaurants & Farmer’s markets. • Worm farm. • Therapeutic horses, goats, chickens etc. • Access for college students to get work experience. • Offer employment at local businesses including the recycle centers.
