Tip Offset Questionnaire

Before taking this questionnaire, consider using the interactive tool to see the impacts to the tip offset and base wages under different scenarios.

 Key things to know:

  • The “base wage for tipped employees” (or simply “base wage”) is the minimum wage per hour that a tipped worker must receive in their paycheck, if their employer takes the tip offset.

  • The base wage is the minimum wage minus the tip offset.

  • On April 2, 2026, City Council decided they would not consider lowering the base wage compared to 2026, even if they decide to increase the tip offset.

  • The city’s minimum wage will increase by 8% in 2027. After that, minimum wage will increase by the rate of inflation during the previous year.

NOTE: All employees, including tipped workers, are required to make at least minimum wage. For more information or to submit a question or complaint about wages, visit https://bouldercolorado.gov/services/human-rights-ordinance.
