Bring local economy in line with UN Social and Solidarity Economy
There is an existing economic model that seeks to rebalance people and planet concerns of an existing paradigm that favors profit. It is called the Social and Solidarity Economy. We can use existing guidance from the UN to bring our local economy in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals by following the recommendations already established: see http://unsse.org/

Develop a City of Boulder Genuine Progress Indicator
Genuine Progress Indicators allow a total cost accounting of our impact on the real economy. Wikipedia shares: Genuine progress indicator (GPI) is a metric that has been suggested to replace, or supplement, gross domestic product (GDP). The GPI is designed to take fuller account of the well-being of a nation, only a part of which pertains to the size of the nation's economy, by incorporating environmental and social factors which are not measured by GDP. For instance, some models of GPI decrease in value when the poverty rate increases. The GPI separates the concept of societal progress from economic growth. Other cities are adopting this accounting process which allows to work toward a well-being economy. What is not to like about that?

Social Capital and a Time-based economy
Our community maps its social capital assets and uses them to connect people who need knowledge or skills with those that have them. The community will track time received and time given and accounting will be applied. Money will not be a recognized currency. In this way we learn about the wealth of our existing community, we strengthen our network, we learn about the gaps we may have, we learn that we are better together than isolated.

Boulder becomes a Doughnut Economics City
Amsterdam is leading the way in regionalizing Doughnut Economics. Boulder could sign up to become one of the early adopters of the process and help shape it. Funding Climate Action Mobilization Planning
A non-profit holding company will be set up by the community. The holding company will exist in order to allow community members to choose to round-up their purchases at local businesses which will be diverted to this fund: when they check-out they will be able to round their purchases up to the nearest dollar. The fund will be treated as a source of granting funds in which instead of zero-sum shark tank grant awards, awards are given to projects which maximize collaborative partners and projects with maximum co-benefits to the community.
