City/Tribal Nation Spring Consultation

The city plans to use Indigenous Peoples Day Resolution language and community input on themes not in the resolution to develop city land acknowledgment with guidance from Tribal Representatives during a consultation this spring.

During the city’s planned spring consultation with Tribal Nations, the city also will seek Tribal representatives’ input on updating agreements the city shares with American Indian Tribes and ask for a final recommendation to rename Settler’s Park. Dates are tentative. The city’s development of land acknowledgments may take time since Tribal Representatives consult with federal, state and local agencies across the country.

Summer Tribal Government Review

City staff will incorporate Tribal Representatives’ guidance to develop and revise land acknowledgment option(s). Staff will also develop an approach for using land acknowledgments. Staff will share these documents with Tribal Governments for their review. Dates are tentative. The city’s development of land acknowledgments may take time since Tribal Representatives consult with federal, state and local agencies across the country.
