Community Benefit

Consultation has concluded

Currently the city may allow applicants to build buildings above zoning district height limits (typically, 35-38 feet and three floors) up to 55 feet (roughly 4 or 5 floors) with special approval by Planning Board in specified areas of Boulder if their project meets specific criteria. Permanently affordable housing projects may request additional height anywhere in the city if 40% of their floor area is for affordable units.

The city is currently looking at incentivizing additional community benefit like affordable commercial space, space for the arts or social services by allowing height, floor area or number of units on the site above zoning district limits.

Please see the “Community Benefit” handout at this link for more information.
