Seeking Your Feedback on Boulder Junction Access District Wayfinding and Design Creative Options

The City of Boulder is working with designers and Boulder Junction representatives to improve wayfinding signage throughout the Boulder Junction Access District.

Based on community feedback gathered during an initial engagement window earlier this year, we’ve come up with three design creative options and we’re excited to get your feedback. These informational wayfinding signs will be in the public right of way throughout Boulder Junction.

The vision for the 160-acre Boulder Junction area is guided by the 2007 Transit Village Area Plan (TVAP). The impetus for Boulder Junction began in 2000, when the City of Boulder initiated a planning effort for a transit-oriented development (TOD) district, in anticipation of new transit facilities to be located near the Boulder Valley Regional Center and Crossroads/Twenty Ninth Street Mall.

It is a primary goal of the Boulder Junction Access General Improvement District – Transportation Demand Management (BJAGID-TDM) to reduce resident and employee solo vehicle trips to 45% of the International Transportation Engineers (ITE) calculated trips for similar land use and density. With several new developments coming online within the Boulder Junction area bringing new residents, employees and visitors, the BJAGID Commissioners have advised that a more robust wayfinding system and branding identity can better communicate the unique character of the district and connect people to the variety of transportation options available to them. This branding and wayfinding project will help communicate to residents, employees, and visitors that they are in a special place that offers a variety of transportation options can allow them to live “car lite” or even “car free”.
